Okay, guys let me go ahead and let you know that this post will include plenty of ramblings. I will boast of my successes and move past many of my failures. All in all, we will be celebrating my 100th post today! Now, where shall we begin?
Creating A Domain Name
On October 8, 2013, I purchased the domain name hotstylesbringsmiles.com. Why did I do this? Well, let me give you the back story. So I was bored a few years ago and was looking for something to do. I stumbled across a free ebook on how to build a website. NOW, I was very technology friendly but had no idea how to build a website. Never would have even thought that it would be something I’d do let alone read an ebook. (Don’t judge me) Like many other people who have tons of subscriptions and free stuff, they don’t use I thought I would be the same.
I was slightly intrigued though and wanted to see just what he was talking about. I mean for a free ebook what the heck I thought. How did I come across the free ebook I couldn’t even tell you. So the ebook that I downloaded way back before creating a website was a thing called ZZZ Profits. So after downloading this free ebook I decided to peek in and began to read. The ebook was a simple step-by-step book on how to create a website. Me not having anything else to do I started reading it and following the steps. So a domain name was purchased.

How did I come up with the name? I have absolutely no idea how I came up with the domain name or even why. All I know is that I needed something that was unique. Something that wasn’t already taken and something that would give me something to talk about. So I have always been low-key obsessed with the painting called the Mona Lisa. It’s very popular, high in value, and exceedingly sought after. BOOM, Hot Styles Bring Smiles was created.
If you know anything about the ordeal surrounding the painting it would make sense. So basically a painting of a lady sitting in front of a window got stolen. This painting was a half-length portrait painting by the Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci. It was considered an archetypal masterpiece of the Italian Renaissance.
After creating a domain name I selected a hosting site and took off. This was the first time I created a website. Unfortunately, I lost my laptop with all my important links, sites, and content so I shut the page down. It was saddening but it was also just me seeing if I could actually do it and I DID. I followed all the steps in the ebook and read the entire content in the ebook.
That was a huge accomplishment for me. So here I am a second time creating a web blog site from scratch. This was done by using some of the knowledge I learned from the ebook as well as new things I learned along the way.
My 100th Post
This site that I am currently on began on February 16, 2022. And here we are on my 100th post for my new website which is a HUGE accomplishment. I am very proud of myself and encourage myself as well as others to remain consistent with my goals. This can be any life goal big or small. Although I can’t quite remember how many posts I had on my previous page I know that it may have been close to 100 as well. Happy 100th post-day to me!
My first post was very simple and basically empty. I had no specific topic to write about or any substance at all for that matter. My main goal at that time was to create a post and post it. Something that would get me started and eventually turn into something great and it did. Here we are celebrating all my efforts that were not in vain. I should probably go revisit that post and edit it but I won’t. I want it to remain as it is so it can be something I look back on and laugh about.
Getting Started
Creating this site was hard work. At first, I had to figure out the proper layout for my site. I wanted it to be unique and different so I worked diligently to get it almost completely the way I wanted. Yes, some changes will be made but for the most part, this will do for now. did not want to use a theme or template because I wanted this to be something that you haven’t seen before. Ya know like a “basic blog” with lots of blank space and lists. As of now, I have a category list that contains 18 sections with at least one post in each category.
Doing this would give me a wide variety of topics to cover. Although this may seem like more work for me to do it would eliminate becoming bored. My favorite category on this site is definitely the nail category. My second favorite would be hair. These will be the categories that I intend on posting the most content on along with the others.
