Top 10 Best Rain Boots For The Fall/Winter Season

While rain boots are made for keeping your feet dry and warm, determining the best time to use them might be difficult. So let’s just go ahead and agree to disagree. Rain boots are NOT specifically made to be worn in the rain. I think, but I believe snow boots are pretty much for snow and not rain. This all depends on the type of boot you wear although I could possibly be wrong.

A rain boot made with faux leather or plastic, lifted by a platform and lugged sole allows you to take on wet weather in a confident style. This is a collection of a few of my favorite rain boots this season.

Rain Drop Western Chief Waterproof Mid Rain Boot

Rain Boots

This Western Chief rain boot is super cute and festive. These boots are solid black with a colorful raindrop design pattern. They are waterproof with a rubber bottom which will ensure your safety during inclement weather. This would be a perfect pair of boots for the fall season. (No pun intended) The raindrop design pattern is very similar to Halloween candy corn.

I like these boots because they are very versatile and can be worn year-round. You can definitely find a way to sneak these down the Chimney as a Christmas gift as well.

Wiley Faux Shearling-Trim Rain Boots

Rain boots

I saw these boots online and I thought they were very cute and stylish. It looks like it should be a more expensive name-brand product in my opinion. The price is fairly reasonable for the boot itself. Now, they do say you get what you pay for. Don’t get me wrong here, I’m not saying this product is cheap, all I’m saying is that I like it.

I like the furry top and the waterproof outer covering. I like the color scheme and the rubber trim on the soles of the boot. I also like the fact that it’s not the typical rain boot style you are used to even though this is considered a rain boot. These can be worn with jeans or paired with a sweater dress and leggings.

Off-White For Riding Tall Rain Boots

Rain Boots

These off-white For Riding brand tall rainboots are BOMB. I like this boot because it is very different. It’s stylish and can be worn dressed up or dressed down. I absolutely love the color pattern of these boots. It reminds me of a winterly tree bark covered in snow. I like the sole of this boot and the boot shape. These would be great with a nice pair of leggings or even a sweater dress.

Western Chief Printed Tall Waterproof Rain Boots

Rain Boots

These tall Western-printed rain boots are perfect for the winter. The Chief printed tribal design slightly resembles a snowflake pattern. These boots are typically black in color but seem slightly brownish or purple. This would be great for the snowy months and cold weather. I love the color scheme of these boots as well as the boot shape. The buckle on the upper part of the boot is also a great accent piece.

Rainey Waterproof Hiking Boot

Rain Boots

These boots are another one of my favorites. This boot is similar to the Wiley Faux Shearling-Trim Rain Boots. The make of this boot is pretty much the same but with minor changes to the style. The main difference is that it does not have fur on the inside of the upper interior. Also, the shoelace hooks are slightly different in shape. I like this boot because it’s white with lilac trimming. They also include matching shoelaces which also happen to be my favorite color.

Cloudy Waterproof Chelsea Rain Boots

Rain Boots

This is another one of my favorite boots. I love the color of this boot. It’s very dressy but can be worn dressed down as well. It doesn’t seem like it would be considered a rain boot due to the boot style. The color is also another reason you wouldn’t assume this was a rain boot. This boot is very stylish.

I like the shape of the boot and the fact that it is a low cut. The boot sole is very thick and sturdy. I like the fabric band on the upper inner portion of the boot as well. It gives you additional leverage when putting the boot on or taking it off.

Chicken Roost Western Chief Waterproof Mid Rain Boot

Rain Boots

These boots were definitely made to be worn during the fall and winter months. You can agree to disagree. This Chicken Roost print on these boots is very unique. I like the way fact that the black trim separates the roost pattern from the boot sole. This makes the pattern look more sophisticated and less childish. This would be a great spring pair of boots but I’m definitely seeing the Thanksgiving holiday.

Chooka Women’s Color Block Mid

Rain Boots

These boots scream “Get the job done”. They look like stylish snow shoveling boots. If the term fashionably late had to be a pair of boots these would be them. I Like the style of the boots, the boot trim, sole, and overall design. The buckle on the upper part of the boot is also a great accent piece.

Hunter Refined Tall Rain boot

Rain Boots

These Refined Hunter rain boots protect against rain, puddles, and slush to keep your feet dry in wet conditions. They can be worn in hot or humid weather but definitely great for the snow! These boots are made from natural latex rubber which makes them easy to clean. This is one of the more standard rain boot styles on the market.

These would be great work boots, hiking boots, or casual wear boots. Once again you can dress them up or dress them down. You can never go wrong with simple, sophisticated, all-black footwear.

SKECHERS Arch Fit Rain Boots

Rain Boots

These Sketchers Arch fit rain boots are VERY stylish. They look more like a pair of riding boots rather than rain boots. Here you have a rider rainboot that can be worn year-round. They can be dressed up or dressed down. Worn with jeans, leggings, or a dress of any style and length. While the color seems more spring-ish, they can definitely be worn perfectly during those fall and winter months. You can definitely find something to wear with these during the Thanksgiving holidays!

Aussie Miracle Coils Sulfate-Free Shampoo Review

I’m pretty sure you would agree that we love wash day. It will be a time to cleanse your hair. Zen your mind, and refresh your spirits. Especially if you have been struggling with your own personal hair goals. I will also admit that wash day for me is always dreadful regardless of how many times I’ve done it. You would think it would get easier as time passed but it doesn’t.

This is possibly due to the fact that your hair has probably gotten longer or changed in texture. How does this process get easier? Possibly by alternating your wash day procedures and routines. Lately, I have been busy doing other things so consistent hair care has not been a top priority.

Hair Product Haul

Recently I stopped by a local department store and noticed they were having a sale on a few top-name brand hair products. After browsing the products I ended up stocking up on some of them. I did this for two reasons. The first reason was to test them out and see if they work for my hair. Also to see if I like the way the product makes my hair look and feel. The second reason was to be sure that I had at least one more of the product on hand just in case they do wonders for my natural hair.

Aussie Miracle Coils Shampoo

So the first purchased product I began using after purchasing was the Aussie Miracle Coils shampoo. It’s a sulfate-free shampoo with Cocoa Butter and Macadamia Nut Oil. I actually really like this shampoo. It’s definitely going to be one of my go-to products now and in the near future. I like this product for various reasons. The first reason I like this product is that a little bit of the product goes a long way.

Aussie Miracle Coils Shampoo

This product was not fairly expensive but it could cause you to want to wash your hair more often. You don’t have to use much of this product to create an enormous lather. I used about a quarter to a half-dollar-sized amount and it covered my whole head and was heavily saturated. Using this shampoo allows me to really cleans my hair strands and scalp area.

I can easily distribute the product throughout my whole head and work the product through my hair. This made detangling my hair a whole lot easier and faster. After shampooing your hair feels EXTREMELY clean and soft. Shrinkage is to be expected with any hair wash depending on your hair type, but my hair felt very bouncy. After shampooing my hair I conditioned and twisted it in a protective style.

Aussie Miracle Coils Shampoo

The second time I used this shampoo I washed my hair with my twists still in from the first shampoo. I untwisted one of the twists in the back and left it untwisted during the wash. I wanted to be sure of the effectiveness of the product with this washing session. I weighed the pros and cons of washing my hair with it being pre-twisted in its normal state. Overall I could say that I had an easier wash day with my hair already twisted during the shampoo.

It was easier for me to manage my hair during the process. This includes shampoo application and distribution, conditioning, and the drying process. If air drying, I just blot my head with a towel and leave it. If I were to blow dry my hair, I would simply stretch the strands and let them dry. If flat ironing, just untwist one section, dry it, and straighten it. If you had nowhere to go or would be wearing a wig. I would say it would be worth it. Just add some oil to your scalp and sheen your tresses, then pin them up and cover them.

Pros & Cons Of The Twisted Hair Shampoo Method

PROSCONS
Saves timeHarder to clean between twists

Twisted Hair Method PROS

1. Saves time

  • With the hair already in the twisted form, it saves you time by not having to part, section, and clip away your hair.

2. Easier Application

  • The pre-twists allow you to apply the shampoo and conditioner to the hair and scalp area a lot faster. You can also get in between and underneath the twists near the roots. This ensures that you cover more area and get a more thorough massage and scalp stimulation.

3. Easier to clean the scalp

  • If you use an applicator bottle having your hair already sectioned off and twisted allows you to only apply the product to specific areas. You get a better idea of where you are placing the product, how much product is used, and how it is being distributed throughout the scalp and strands.

4. Easier to wash hair

  • This will be a low-manipulation method. Simply run the water over your head and massage the scalp area to cleanse it. Once you feel like that area is cleaned, glide your hands across your twists. Wash them starting at the roots and working the water down and towards the ends of the hair. Continue with this process until the water runs clear and you do not see any lather on your hair, scalp, and edges.

5. Locks in moisture

  • If you allow your hair to air dry simply pin your hair upwards. This can be in a ball, ponytail, or bun after washing. Pat your hair dry to remove any dripping water. Having your hair remain a little damp will be good for those who have dry hair and are aiming to lock in additional moisture.

6. Easer to dry

  • Pre-twisted hair lets your hair have room to dry. This is due to the hair being already sectioned off and in the pre-stretched state. You can set the twists w/ rollers and sit under a dryer.
  • If you are air drying you can just leave your hair how it is after washing and towel drying. You may want to blow dry or flat iron your hair afterward. This will make it easier because the hair is pre-sectioned and out of the way. Also, it is already pre-stretched so that will make straightening less tedious and last longer.

Twisted Hair Method CONS

1. Harder to clean between twists

  • Cleaning the scalp area is the easiest part to wash twisted hair. When you apply the product to your scalp and hair it’s harder to thoroughly get all the product from between the twisted strands. You can run the water along the twists until the water runs clear but in my opinion, I don’t think that all of the product is removed.

2. Leaves some residue

  • After removing your head from the washing place to dry you may notice that the product lather is still in between some of the pieces of the crown, edges, and twisted parts. You may have to spread the twists slightly apart to get all the areas you may have missed. This is all dependent on the size of your twists. Mine were medium-sized but ranging from large to medium woven and smaller in the front and crown.

3. Twists are looser after wash

  • This may be a pro as well as a con as well. After washing your twists may have loosened during the process due to manipulation. They will have separated closer to the root and scalp area.

4. Hair looks dry

  • Even though your hair has been cleansed it may still look dry. It will probably have a softer texture but looks as though it may still need to be moisturized thoroughly to avoid breakage and split ends. This will be even after applying the shampoo and conditioner.

5. Hair is frizzy

  • Your hair will look like it was blow-dried, fried, and extremely damaged. It will probably just need a little additional TLC.

6. Needs to be retwisted

  • The original twists will be tousled and in disarray. You will have to retwist your hair or remove them to moisturize and style your hair.

5 Halloween Candy Games Your Kids Will Love

Halloween games can be a fun and exciting way to celebrate the Halloween season. Here is a fun activity that you can play with your friends and family using Halloween candy. The game is easy to play and does not require many tools. It’s a very popular Halloween game that can be mixed and matched to Halloween perfection!

Halloween Candy Games

Halloween Candy Corn Relay

What You Will Need:
Candy Corn Candy
2- 4 Candy Bowls
Pumpkin Head Basket (Optional)
Empty Carved & Cleaned Pumpkin (Optional)
2 Scoopers or Spoons
Starting & Finishing Line Tape (Optional)
Stop Watch or Timer

Note: The amount of candy corn, candy bowls, and scoopers needed for the game will vary. This will all depend on how many guests will be playing the game. For example, if only two children will be playing you will need either 2 bags of candy, 2 or 4 candy bowls, and 2 scoopers. If there are only two players playing and you want to use only 2 candy bowls let the players race one at a time.

If there will be more players you can use more bowls so they can race at the same time. If only using two bowls arrange the players into two teams. One player races to the filled bowl to get a scoop, races back to fill the empty bowl then hands the scooper to the next player. After their turn, they get behind the last player in the line until all the candy is transferred or the timer runs out.

Place one empty bowl near the starting line and the other filled bowl at the other end. The distance between the bowls may vary as well. Set a time limit for the race; I would say about 3 minutes. When setting your time limit be mindful of the distance between the empty and filled candy bowls.

Game Setup Instructions:

Begin the game by setting up the play area. You will need to have a wide open space for the children to race. Use an identifying object, landmark, or separation tape to designate the starting line as well as the finish line. Place the empty bowl(s) at the start and finish lines. Fill the bowl or bowl(s) at the finish line with the candy corn. (The candy choices may vary, but you want an item that comes in a large number) Line the players behind the starting line and give them a scooping tool.

How to play:

Set your timer or stopwatch for 3 minutes. Count down the start of the game. Once you get to the starting phase that is when the race will begin. Immediately after the first player takes off, start the timer. Allow the players to race back and forth until the bowls are filled or the timer runs out. If the timer runs out before the bowls are completely empty count the candies in each bowl.

Have the players stand by their bowls and count each bowl separately so you don’t mix them up. Having multi-colored bowls will be very helpful during this process. The person or team who has the highest number of candies in their bowl wins the game.

Note: If you are playing with smaller children and want to give out a prize an additional game can be played. If there are additional candies left in the filled bowls at the end, allow the losing team to guess how many candies are left.

Quick Tips:

  • This game can be played in many different ways. All the items can be substituted if you want to play but don’t have the above items. You can use cardboard boxes, plastic bags, or styrofoam cups or plates instead of candy bowls.
  • Instead of candy corn, you can use chocolate chips, marshmallows, or sixlets for the filled bowls.
  • If you want to play indoors you can set up the bowls on opposite sides of a table and race from one end to the other but use a shorter time limit.

Candy Corn Toss

This game is a fun and challenging way to test kids’ aim and coordination. This game is very simple but fun. Set up two bowls or cups a few feet apart. Give each child a handful of candy corn. The children take turns trying to toss their candy corn into the bowls. The child with the most candy corn in the bowls at the end of the game wins.

  2. Set up a row of plastic cups in front of each candy corn cone.

Scavenger Hunt

The scavenger hunt game is a fun and active way to get kids searching for the hidden candies. It’s a great game to get kids moving around. Hide candy all over the house or yard and give the kids a list of candies to find. The child who finds the most candy corn wins.

Guessing Game

This game is a fun and easy way to test kids’ knowledge of candy corn. Fill a clear jar with candy corn and ask the kids to guess how many pieces are inside. The child with the closest guess wins.

Materials
A Jar Of Candies
Paper
Pencils or crayons

Instructions:

  1. Show the kids the jar of candy corn and ask them to guess how many pieces are inside.
  2. Write down all of the guesses on a piece of paper.
  3. At the end of the game, count the pieces of candy corn in the jar and see who had the closest guess!

Matching game

This game is perfect for younger children. Cut out candy corn shapes from different colored construction paper. Mix up the shapes and place them face down on a table. Have the children take turns flipping over two shapes at a time. If the shapes match, the child keeps them. If the shapes don’t match, they flip them back over. The child with the most matching shapes at the end of the game wins.

These are just a few ideas for Halloween candy corn games for kids. Get creative and come up with your own variations!

Tips for playing candy corn games with kids

  • Make sure to have plenty of candy on hand.
  • If you are playing with younger children, use larger candy pieces to avoid choking hazards.
  • If you are playing a game that requires stacking candy corn, provide the children with a flat surface to play on.
  • If you are playing a game that requires throwing candy, make sure to have a safe area for the children to play.
  • Most importantly, have fun!

Monster T-Shirts

Let’s be honest during the Halloween Holiday season we all love a really good horror movie. These are some of my favorite monster-themed T-Shirts.

Lost Costume T-Shirts

Many of us would love to take part in the Halloween festivities but cannot for different reasons. Some may not be allowed to participate due to work, lack of resources, or holiday cheer. These are some of my favorite graphic tees that allow you to be festive without being too EXTRa if you know what I mean. Not saying costumes are extra but sometimes they can be depending on your status in life.

Halloween Sweatshirts

Here are a few cool Sweatshirts that I found to be very festive but not too extra. That’s just in case you aren’t allowed to be “Costume ready” during the Halloween season. They are plain and simple enough to wear year-round without breaking the budget by being festive this year.

Spongebob Squarepants Long Sleeve Shirts

These were my favorite shirts this Halloween for the children. They are Halloween Shirts featuring characters most of us already know and love. These are also shirts that can be purchased, recycled, worn year-round, and passed down. I can’t decide which one is my absolute fave though.

The Best Naked Smoothie Drink Flavors

If you haven’t tried the Naked smoothie brand drinks you have no idea what you are missing. I absolutely love them! They have great flavors that are very nutritious and healthy. Recently I was browsing the grocery aisle looking for a smoothie and I noticed that they had a new flavor. The Rainbow Machine is one of the most recent new flavors (Outside of the original ones).

The Orange Vanilla Creme smoothie is one of the more recent flavors added to the Naked brand flavor collection. I typically drink all the Naked brand flavors so when I saw this one I had to try it out. I bought two of them that day because the flavor combination sounded interesting. When I took the first sip I was instantly hooked. When I tell you that was an addicting first sip I really mean it. Now, not to knock anyone’s taste buds but I don’t normally like “Orange” drinks.

Smoothie Flavor

I mean yes I drink orange juice but that’s about as much orange as I’m gonna get. I will drink an orange drink if that’s all that is available to me but it’s definitely not going to be my first pick. This one was well worth the purchase. If you’ve ever tasted one of those orange and cream ice cream pops or an orange push-up pop that’s exactly what you have here only it’s in a bottle.

In my opinion, after tasting the other flavors I think the Orange Vanilla Creme is more of a drink than a smoothie. The other drinks have a “Fruit” blended texture to them. This is especially true for the strawberry banana flavor. It tastes thicker than a drink per se but not so thick that you can’t drink it. When I say “Thick” I mean you have to sip the smoothie and not gulp it down. You may in fact gulp the Orange Vanilla Creme drink. After Finishing the first one I was ready to open the second one. This flavor should be made in a larger size and added to the long-term listing.

The Best Nearly Nude OPI Nail Polish Sets

“I get a commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post.”

With the summer now over we move toward the fall and everything that comes with it. Of course, we all tend to love bright and flashy colors we have to adapt to the seasons. Moving into the fall we tend to cling to more warm nail colors instead of the sunshine yellow and hot pinks. Although we could possibly get away with it, we probably shouldn’t!

Get a flawless Mani, and Pedi right at home or in a nail show with these nearly Nude OPI Nail Lacquers. While we all love gel nail polish by OPI, these standard polishes should get the job done. When I say nearly nude I mean shades that are more skin toned and subtle. Shades that can be worn year-round and undetectable during those times when professionalism is necessary. These shades are ultra-rich and shiny. They can also deliver up to a week or more of wear time.

1. Nearly Nude OPI Nail Polish Shades

This collection has nail polish colors in soft shades of metallic pink with a shiny, pearly finish. This color combination enhances your nails with beautiful, sophisticated colors. Sun-kissed bronze nail polishes that pair perfectly with a bikini or Thanksgiving dinner. These warm, neutral shades of light brown nail polish bring a little summer wherever you go. The classic, coral pink color has a creamy, shiny finish. Inspired by colorful summer shades, the creamy pale pink has hints of pearl and ice, enhancing your nails with a sophisticated touch.

How To Save Money During The Halloween Season

With the rise of many day-to-day living expenses, trying to save money can be a very daunting task. As soon as you think you’re getting ahead, the holiday season rolls around. And this is a repeating cycle we all dread. I’m here to help you out just a bit with what I call hopeful inspiration. The main goal of this post is to assist you in elevating your Halloween cheer and festive spirit for a positive celebration.

Save Money With DIY Costumes

If you are typically a creative person, creating your own costume may be more fun than purchasing one. If you can sew, that will give you a greater variety of items you can create. If you can’t sew, try to use items that you already own to create something new and fresh. Always remember that face paint can go a long way. When thinking of your costume, be sure to remember that you don’t have to be a character we already know. You can create your own costume character since that’s where the magic begins!

Rent A Costume

You can typically shop on the internet for a variety of things. This includes finding places that not only sell costumes but rent them too. Finding a company that has a costume rental service will be very beneficial to you. This will allow you to switch up your Halloween costumes throughout the years without the headache. Simply go online, type in the search bar for rental places, and shop the sites. Some of your findings may have physical stores you can go to.

Either way, if you don’t have an idea of your own just check to see what they have available. Pick something from there, and you’re set to go! Here are some links that I found for costume rentals. Doing a location search may be more helpful though.

Thrift Store Shop

Many times when we shop for Halloween costumes we only intend to wear them once. Very seldom do people wear the same Halloween costume a second time. Especially not the year after it was purchased. Many of us save our old Halloween costumes for later use or throw them away. Some of us donate them when we decide it’s time to clean out our closets. Others pass them down to their children or trade them with friends. A Thrift store will be a good place to look for a costume, or decorations for the season at a reasonable price. We may even find the costume we intended to buy that had been donated before our search.

Tarantula Spider One-Piece Pajamas

Wear Pajamas

Many big and small department stores sell pajamas that closely resemble Halloween attire. While this may not be a “costume” pajamas that have Halloween prints work just as well. You can find one-piece pajama sets that are in the form of animals. Some of them come with attached hoods which makes the costume look more real and believable. Doing this will help you save money because instead of putting your costume in the closet never to be seen again you can wash and wear your pajamas year-round for as long as they will fit.

Buy Novelty Items

Give out novelty Items along with candy. Companies like Oriental Trading are places where you can buy large quantities of items at a great price. This will be a good addition to your Halloween candy purchase because these items you can purchase ahead of time. Incorporating Halloween toys into your candy bowl will allow you to stretch your budget. You can buy these items right after Halloween to begin the hoard for next year.  This will also be a good idea if you will be making Halloween candy bags for your kids instead of taking them to trick o treat.

Halloween Recycled Bottles

Recycle Household Items

Do you have items that you used to decorate after moving into your home? You can easily dress these items up and turn them into Halloween decor. Doing this will be a good way to save money because you can decorate the same items for other holidays throughout the year. Many people have begun to repurpose their Christmas trees and decorate them for other holidays such as Valentine’s Day and Easter.

Save your decorations

Let’s be honest and admit that decorating can be very expensive. Most people don’t decorate for the seasons because it may be hard to fit it into their budget after paying monthly expenses. They may also have purchased Halloween costumes to go out instead of staying in. Keeping your decorations will set you up for a better collection of items to use for the next year. You can also purchase decorations that are on sale right after the Halloween season is over. This will be good for next year’s preparation. You can continue to add items throughout the year until you are ready for your elaborate showcase.
