Ingredients:

1tsp. Vegetable oil for pan

1 cup All-purpose flour

½ cup Whole wheat flour

½ teaspoon Kosher salt

½ cup of Sugar

3 teaspoons Vanilla extract

8 Tablespoons /Stick of butter (Can sub for ½ cup vegetable oil)

2 Large Eggs (room temperature)

5 Very overripe peeled bananas

½ cup Chopped toasted walnuts or pecans (Optional)

Banana Bread Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven and set it to 350 degrees. Lightly coat the pan with butter or oil whichever you prefer.   
  2. Combine the all-purpose and wheat flour in a bowl. Add the baking soda and salt into the same bowl. Mix this well and then set it aside.
  3. In the second bowl, you will add the bananas and sugar. For smoother texture make sure there are no chunks or clumps of the bananas in your mixture. Mix this until it is as smooth as it will get or to the texture of your liking.
  4. Add the butter, eggs, and vanilla extract into the banana mixture and mix well. 
  5. In small portions add the flour mixture into the banana bowl. Add the nuts into the mixture after the flour is complete if you will be using them. 
  6. After the oven has reached the proper temperature, use the spatula to place the mixture into the greased pan. Carefully place into the oven and bake until firm. This should take about an hour or until the desired consistency is reached. 
  7. After baking set the loaf aside to cool. Once cooled remove the loaf of bread from the pan. Wrap the bread in plastic then cover it in wax paper. Tie it with a ribbon or twine for storage.
  8. Once ready to eat untie the bread loaf and slice. 
  9. Warm caramel sauce in the microwave or on low heat in a saucepan. Stir the sauce periodically to avoid sticking and burning. This should be for about 2-3 minutes. Drizzle the sauce over your sliced bread and enjoy.
