Healthy Hair Basics
Shampooing and conditioning are the main ingredients for healthy hair. Along with that you also need to add moisture back to your hair. This can be done in various ways including grease, oils, leave-in conditioners, and deep conditioning among other things. Deep conditioning should be an essential part of your hair cair routine. Deep Conditioning improves your hair strength and elasticity. It restores the natural shine of your hair and tames frizz.
Aunt Jackies Coconut Creme Recipes
Aunt Jackie has a wide variety of hair styling products. One of the products I added to my hair routine is one of the Coconut Creme Recipes. The coco repair is best suited for natural curls, coils, and waves.
This product is intended to nourish your hair from the root to the tips. It should also be used to prevent and stop your hair from becoming damaged and breaking off. Dry hair causes your hair to be weak and brittle. This type of breakage is what causes split ends and hair loss altogether.
Coconut Creme Deep Conditioner
This product is enriched with coconut oil and avocado which provides your hair with a softened hair texture and shine. It hydrates dry and or brittle hair. These oils work best by depositing nutrients into the hair shaft which helps improve the overall texture, look and feel of your previously damaged and unruly hair. It is especially good for those who have 2c-4c textured hair. It works best for chronic dryness, and over-processing, from chemicals, hair coloring, heat styling, braiding, or environmental conditions. This product can be applied on dry hair as well as shampoo on wet hair.
When using this product I used it on shampooed hair. My hair was already clean but it was not the hair that was fresh from the shampoo bowl. Basically, I would suggest that you use this product on wet hair. I say this because I ended up using the majority of the jar on my whole head with just one treatment. This would be a good idea if you want to make sure that your whole head of hair receives product on every single strand. This may be wasteful if you previously deep-conditioned your hair and just want a retouch.
I started out with small sections and applied this product on the hair strands and the ends, not the scalp. This product is more for the “root to tip” to smooth, soften, and hydrate. I made sure that this product was covering every bit of my hair to ensure that my hair received a wavy bit of moisture.
Lock In The Heat
After I completed the whole head application I placed a plastic bag over my head. ( Yes I used a regular plastic bag on my head I did not want to bother myself searching for a shower cap that day) Then I placed a bonnet over my head and went to bed. The next afternoon I washed the product from my hair to style.
Normally I wouldn’t pay much attention to how hair products actually make my hair feel. In my opinion, most product companies claim the same results. I like this product because I could feel the results right after washing my hair. Now I will say this “If you don’t normally pay attention to your hair you wouldn’t understand.” So as I stated before after washing my hair it felt softer but you couldn’t actually tell there is a difference until after your hair has already dried. This is because most hair feels the same to the touch after being washed.
Hair Air Drying
I twisted my hair after washing it and allowed it to air dry. This was in about 5 or 6 large twists. You are free to do as many as you would like. I only did this amount because I wanted to hurry up and finish. After my hair dried I applied a scalp tonic, hair grease, and hair lotion. (Normally I don’t use hair grease but I have added it to my regimen over the last few years).
My Review
I let the products sit in my hair for a day or two then removed one of the twists to check my texture and softness. I was very impressed by how my hair felt after the deep conditioning. It felt very moisturized and was very soft to the touch. It was also more manageable and elongated also my strands felt smoother.
The frizz had been tamed, but I wasn’t able to tell how shiny my hair was after the twists. Directly after the moisturizing process, my twists seemed very hydrated, juicy, shiny, and smooth. After removing one of the twists my hair was soft but looked slightly dry. Overall I like this product and would purchase it again. I would probably try mixing some of this product with my favorite conditioner that way I would be able to deep condition twice instead of the whole jar once.
