“Bronner Bros Naturals promotes natural beauty by formulating products specifically for CURLY, COARSE hair. backed by a wealth of knowledge in the natural hair industry, we are dedicated to meeting the needs of our customers in this ever-growing.”
While the distribution of their hair care products is lucrative, they are widely known for their hair and beauty shows. The company’s initial goal was to teach the art of cosmetology. The company was founded in order to teach cosmetology at the neighborhood YMCA. Nathaniel and Arthur Bronner created Bronner Bros. in 1947 with the aid of their sister, Emma Bronner.
The first event after the newfound company, the event had about 300 people in attendance. This was deemed a huge success at the time being that many people were still not quite sure what they ought to be doing with their hair.
A change of venue was needed after the demand for information increased. The Royal Peacock Social Club was the first location followed by a transfer to the Auburn Avenue Casino. After signing a contract with the Hyatt Regency Hotel, the show resumed there for 20 consecutive years. The crowd of people gathered at these shows drew the attention of many highly esteemed individuals.
The Bronner Brothers extended invitations to a number of well-known speakers over the years. Some of these notable members included Dick Gregory, Benjamin Mays, Jackie Robinson, Martin Luther King Jr., and Jackie Robinson.
Bronner Brother’s Hair Shows
I attended a Bronner Brothers event while I was attending cosmetology school in 2010. It was my first time going to a hair show or event of that stature. I was very excited to see the exhibits and learn about the latest hair products. During the event, there are stylists who perform services on models and clients as guests shop around. They have games and other forms of entertainment happening all at the same time. (Yes, sometimes these events can be LOUD). While creating this post, I actually went to pull up a few photos from the event. Sadly, I didn’t have many. I must have been having a great time.
The above photo was one of my favorite aspects of the event. The dress that the model is wearing is constructed using actual hair. I thought it was very creative and eye-catching. I can only imagine the time it took to construct something of this magnitude.
Although Bronner Bros. products are primarily made for the African-American community, they can be used on all types of hair. They have several major product lines, including African Royale, BB, Tropical Roots, and a Natural Product line. The Bronner Bros. International Beauty Show has been the biggest multicultural gathering of beauty experts in the United States. The event drew in nearly 22,000 attendees and 300+ exhibitors with more to come.
