1. Keep track of quality articles
Creating quality articles is not as easy of a task as you may think. It takes many hours of preparation. Most writers have tons of ideas that may be hard to create at one time. Keeping track of your article topics can be a great way to refresh your memory and keep those creative juices flowing.
2. Organize your article topics
I like to organize my article topics by categories. I open up my documents app and title it. For example, let’s say I want to post about creative writing. I would title my document “Blogging Posts”. I would then create a numbered list of all the things I would like to post about. This could be “blogging tips, creative writing workshops, blogging tools, proofreading services” and so on.
3. Pay attention to content word counts
Creating quality articles that people actually want to read can be challenging. The first few words you write can be intimidating, to say the least. It is especially true for blogs, books, articles, and even some musical content. This is due to the fact that we have so many apps and programs indicating what the length of our writing should be.
It can be hard for you to stretch your initial thoughts. Quality articles are usually a thousand words long. When all you wanted to do was write a caption for a photo you wanted to share. Social media can play a large part in this area. All in all, be sure to pay attention to content length. Readers want to be sure you are somewhat knowledgeable in your niche field. Writing quality articles will create a sense of loyalty to your brand or business with higher engagement levels.
4. Avoid distractions
It can be very easy for you to get sidetracked when you have content to create. This could be during your hours of research and you end up shopping online. You could be talking and texting on Facebook messenger or Whatsapp when you should be writing. This includes scrolling through Instagram posts and watching TikTok videos for long periods of time. Many people play games online as well. This can all distract you from your craft. Be sure that you set a designated time to work on content creation and stick to it. I’m not saying you aren’t allowed breaks in between work but be sure to keep it to a minimum and utilize great time management skills.
5. Research smartly
Don’t believe everything you read. This goes for books, articles, and online posts. Always do your research when writing content that isn’t familiar to you. By doing this, you will be able to learn additional skills and improve your writing abilities.
6. Outline key points
Make bulleted lists to outline key points for your content. As a result, you will be able to take better notes and maintain a better flow of your articles. It allows you to pinpoint the main ideas and gives you a better chance to add to your posts. Key points a general idea of what you wish to accomplish with your article writing. By creating an outline you can use them all for one post or break your bullets down into separate posts. This gives you a wider range of topics for the same main idea. Thus allowing you to create internal links within your previously published content.
7. Dont overthink
Try not to overthink when you are creating content. Many people like simple blogs. Often times, research blogs are very detailed and pretty much boring. Some of us may enjoy reading a dictionary from cover to cover, but many of us don’t.
8. Keep your audience in mind
Your created content should be consistent with your audience. If you have a hair blog your content should mainly be about hair. This can include hairstyling, hair tips, and hair products. While your blog shouldn’t be limited to those specifics, you may also add makeup looks and clothing ideas. These types of posts may be included but should be incorporated into your blog strategically. You may want to create content such as this “Fashion pieces that won’t overshadow your blonde bob” or The best makeup looks for curly hair”. Let’s be honest hair and makeup go hand in hand. Hair colors can tend to clash with your makeup eyeshadows. Additionally, some hairstyles definitely don’t look good under a hat.
9. Review Published content
Review your published content after posting. Doing this will allow you to actually see it on your page in live time. You can read it as your reader would and check it for any errors or layout issues. Make sure your article links actually work and lead to the correct pages.
10. Edit your articles
Go back and re-edit your articles after they have been posted for some time. Use this as an opportunity to refresh your old post by adding additional text. Shuffle the photos in the article by adding fresh new ones. This can make it seem as if you have created an entirely new post for your return viewers. This can increase content engagement as well. Refresh your product or service links if you have any listed in your earlier posts. Also, create internal links for newer posts and link them to your older posts. Update your keywords and blog tags as well as add alt text to your saved images.
